Tasks

Props:

  • Computer and computer accessories/ maybe a laptop - to show the two people using the social network while they are talking to each other.
  • Cups, files, folders, tables, chairs, etc - Emphasise on setting and bring in the audience closer to the characters to give them a essence of how the characters live life.
  • Make up/cosmetics - To show a house of a girl so you can see that she likes to do everything and everyday things that girls would usually do.
  • Phones - For communication over a phone call or text.
Setting and location:

  • 2 different houses - One has to be a the boys house and the other has to be the girls house.
  • 2 different bedrooms - One has to look like a boys bedroom and the other has to look like the girls bedroom. Each bedroom is going to show lifestyle and give us a sense of what the characters are like.
  • 2 different living rooms - When we have the spilt screen of the two characters they will be sitting in their living room.
  • Park- The park will be used to introduce the two characters. They will first meet in the park and this is where the film will also end.
  • Restaurant- This location maybe used if the PARK is not used. Finding permission to film inside a restaurant is hard so we might have to result in shooting in the PARK. The reason we have chosen the restaurant is because people usually go on dates to somewhere they can eat like a restaurant so thats why we wanted to film inside a restaurant where the couple would finally meet.
Style and narrative structure:

  • Romantic comedy (spoof/parody) - based on comedic romantic themes (because of attraction between the boy and girl, but comedy as it is not how they expect)

  • linear, multi strand, realist narrative - it is a linear narrative because it will be in sequential/chronological order, it is multi-strand because it is the story is based on more than one characters and it is a realist structure because it will be based on real life situations.

The advantages on the style of our SC product is that the situation will be based in real life situations/contexts, so the audience will feel more engaged with the story.

The disadvantages on the styles of our SC production is that the story may be predictable and the audience may find it repetitive as a similar story has been done before, but we will add techniques such as split screen and effects to make it original.

Romantic Comedy -
We had chosen to do a spoof of a romantic film because we thought of a great idea that would attract so many different viewers. The reason we have thought of this genre is because people like the essence of love and comedy mixed into one film. The way the film is going to be a Rom-Com is the fact the boy and girl like each other but the comedy will be on how they embark on their relationship and how it all climaxes.

Linear narrative because it will follow a chronological order which is beginning, middle and end. Multi strand because there isn't just one main character, the film is based on two lead roles. Structure could also be Realist because the story is based on real life events that have and can take place.

Costumes:

Boy - Trendy clothes must be worn by the boy. These include the latest trends such as chinos, winter jumpers and aztec tops.
Girl - Must be in geeky clothes. No trend with no colour co-ordination between her clothes. Must have no sense of style plus has to wear grandma shoes.

We also need to take into consideration the sound effects for our product, so we may need to get microphones.
